Terms of Use
Version 1.0 · in force since August 31, 2026
CartDisc is a catalogue of physical games: you record the copies you own, track the ones you are still hunting for, and — if you want to — publish a collector profile. These terms say what you can expect from the service and what it expects from you. Where a rule has a practical consequence, the consequence is spelled out.
1.Who operates CartDisc
CartDisc is operated by Renato França, an individual, reachable at renatofrancarpmf@gmail.com. There is no company behind the service today; when there is one, this section is the first that will change.
By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy, which forms part of them.
2.Your account
You must be at least 16 to create an account. Between 16 and 18, use should be known to whoever is responsible for you.
Use an email address that is yours: it receives the confirmation link, it is how a password is recovered, and it is where anything important is sent.
You are responsible for what happens in your account and for keeping your password to yourself. If you suspect someone else has been in it, change the password — that ends every open session — and write to us.
During the closed beta, signing up requires an invite. An invite is spent exactly once and only opens the door: once you are in, you sign in normally afterwards without needing another.
3.What is yours stays yours
Your collection, your wishlist, your photos and your hauls are yours. You grant only the licence needed to run the service: to store, resize and display that content to whoever your visibility settings allow.
Profiles start private. Making one public is your choice, and appearing in search engines is a second choice, separate from the first. The wishlist has its own visibility, because showing what you are looking for is not the same decision as showing what you own.
Some fields are never public, by construction rather than by setting: what you paid for a copy, your notes, and the results of the tests you recorded.
You can export your collection whenever you like, as a spreadsheet or as a catalogue. It is worth doing now and then: CartDisc is not a backup service.
4.Contributions to the community archive
Contributing is different from keeping. When you submit a scan — front, back, insert, barcode — for a release in the catalogue and it is approved, it becomes part of the public archive, visible to anyone, including people without an account.
For that you grant CartDisc a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free and irrevocable licence to host, display, resize and distribute that material within the service.
Irrevocable has a concrete consequence, and it is better said here than discovered later: if you delete your account, material already published stays in the archive but stops being attributed to you. The cover every visitor sees belongs to the release, not to the account that supplied it — what leaves with you is the credit, not the page.
You confirm that you scanned the material yourself, or that you have the right to submit it. Do not upload files taken from other archives, sites or shop listings.
XP, levels and badges are community recognition, not currency: they have no monetary value, cannot be transferred, and may be recalculated when the scoring rules change.
5.Third-party rights and takedowns
Box art, logos, manuals and trademarks belong to their rights holders. CartDisc's archive exists to identify and document physical objects: telling a Brazilian pressing from a European one is impossible without showing the difference between them.
If you hold rights and believe something here should not be, write to renatofrancarpmf@gmail.com naming the page, the material and the basis of your right. We review it and, where warranted, take it down — usually within seven business days. We do not require a court order to act on a request from someone who holds the rights.
6.House rules
What does not belong here:
- unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else's rights;
- material you did not scan and have no right to submit;
- harassment, hate speech, threats, or exposing another person's data;
- spam, advertising, and using a profile as a shop window;
- bulk automated collection of the catalogue, and any attempt to get around usage limits, moderation or authentication;
- impersonating anyone, moderators included.
Copy photos are moderated before they appear in public galleries. Content can be removed and accounts suspended for breaking these rules.
7.Sales and trades between collectors
CartDisc is not a shop, a marketplace or an intermediary. Marking a copy as available to sell or trade is a signal on your profile and nothing more: there is no price, no payment, no cart, no shipping, no escrow, no guarantee and no reputation system inside the service.
Every negotiation happens elsewhere, directly between the people involved. CartDisc is not a party to it, does not broker it and is not answerable for it — not for what was agreed, what was shipped, the condition of the item, the payment, or whatever goes wrong.
Agree terms on a channel that leaves a record, prefer payment methods with buyer protection, and be suspicious of urgency. If someone uses CartDisc to defraud, tell us at renatofrancarpmf@gmail.com: the account can be suspended, and it will be.
8.Paid plans
CartDisc is free today. When paid plans exist, this section governs them, and the price, what is included and how payment works will be stated before you subscribe.
Prices in Brazilian reais. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each cycle until you cancel; cancelling stops the next charge and access continues to the end of the period already paid for. There is no lock-in and no penalty.
You may withdraw from a first subscription within seven calendar days for a full refund, under art. 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Code.
Returning to the free plan erases nothing of yours: collection, photos and history stay where they are, and only the paid features stop responding. The community archive — the scans, the release records, the public pages — will never sit behind a payment.
Price changes apply to later cycles and will be announced at least 30 days in advance.
9.Availability, changes and the beta
The service is offered as it is, and it is under active development: features appear, move, and occasionally leave.
Uninterrupted availability is not promised. The database is backed up, but that is the service's own infrastructure and not a personal backup for you — export your collection.
If a significant feature is discontinued, we will say so with reasonable notice and, where it makes sense, with a way to take your data with you.
10.Closing your account
You can delete your account whenever you want, in Settings → Account. It asks for your password and for your username to be typed out because the deletion is immediate and permanent.
What happens: the account, collection, wishlist, hauls, photos, likes and pending submissions are deleted from the database, and your images are removed from storage. There is no soft delete and no copy kept just in case.
Two things survive, for different reasons: your username stays reserved, so old links cannot start pointing at someone else; and contributions already published stay in the archive, unattributed, as explained above.
An account that breaks these terms may be suspended or closed. You will be told by email when that happens, unless telling you would get in the way of investigating fraud.
11.Liability
Nothing in these terms removes the rights the Brazilian Consumer Code gives you.
That said, and as far as the law allows, CartDisc is not liable for indirect damages or lost profits, for negotiations between users, for content submitted by third parties, or for downtime caused by the services it depends on — hosting, storage, email delivery and sign-in providers.
Where a paid plan exists, liability is limited to the amount paid in the twelve months before the event, a limit that does not apply to damage caused by wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
12.Changes to these terms
These terms can change. The version and effective date are at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced by email or in the app at least 15 days in advance, and continuing to use the service after that means accepting them. If you do not accept, you can close your account.
13.Governing law
These terms are governed by Brazilian law. Consumer matters may be brought before the courts of the consumer's own domicile, as the Consumer Code provides; otherwise, the courts of the operator's domicile apply.
